A University-model® school model combines the best of on-campus instruction with one-on-one instruction at home. Children attend school on the main campus two days a week for classroom instruction from professional teachers. The remaining days are spent in their home “satellite campus,” working on assignments with a parent, but with guidance from our professional teachers and assignment sheets. Teachers are in close communication with the parents about instruction in the classroom and at home to provide stability and consistency throughout their academic journey.
Children benefit from the structure of a classroom environment, working with peers, learning from another caring adult, and engaging in friendly competition. Parents are supported with guidance (through lesson plans) from a professional teacher, extra accountability, and a “break” from teaching.
This method provides parents direct interaction with their child’s learning and ultimately builds stronger study skills in the logic and rhetoric phases (aligns with middle and high school ages), leading to academic independence and long term success, whether they attend college or not.
What does the schedule look like during satellite (home) campus days?
We get this question a lot. We recommend keeping a routine similar to the one we have on our central campus days.
